Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

* KAPOLEI HEARING A permit for the proposed Kapolei Corporate Yard is on the city Department of Planning and Permitting agenda at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 23 at Kapolei Hale, conference room A. Call 768-8018.

* NEIGHBORS The Pearl City Neighborhood Board meets at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 23 in the Highlands Intermediate cafeteria; the Makakilo-Kapolei-Honokai Hale board at 7 p.m. Oct. 24 in the Kapolei High cafeteria; and the Waipahu board at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at Hawaii’s Plantation Village.

* SLIME TIME Kapolei Library hosts Slime Time, a workshop for children ages 6 and older to make their own slime from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. Call 693-7050.

* KUNIA COSTUMES Kunia Shopping Center holds a Halloween costume contest at 7 p.m. Oct. 26 at Planet Fun; judging begins at 7:30 for ages 12 and younger. Merchants have entry forms.

* HAUNTED HOUSE Easter Seals Hawaii presents its eighth annual Haunted House from 6 to 11 p.m. Oct. 26 and 27 at 91-1254 Renton Road in Ewa Beach. Admission is $5, with children 4 and under free. Call 681-0747.

* HAUNTED TRAIN The Hawaiian Railway presents its annual haunted train benefit ride, Spookalooza 2007, departing at 7, 7:45, 8:30 and 9:15 p.m. Oct. 26 and 27 from the “station” at 91-1001 Renton Road. The $5 tickets must be reserved ahead by calling 681-6461.

* FESTIVAL Kapolei Middle School has its annual Fall Festival from 1:30 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 26 with food, games, inflatables, carnival rides and a movie. Call 693-7025.

* EWA BASH A Halloween Bash is set for 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 26 at Ewa Beach Community Park, 91-955 North Road, featuring a costume contest (scariest, funniest and most original), entertainment, games, food and more. Call 689-0370.

* GOSPEL DRAMA Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church presents a contemporary translation of The Gospel of Luke starring Michael Reardon at 7 p.m. Oct. 26 at 91-1004 North Road. A reception will follow. Call 689-8681.

* BORDERS Aiea author Marion Coste signs copies of her newest children’s book, The Hawaiian Bat: Ope’ape’a at 2 p.m. Oct. 27 at Borders Waikele (676-6699) and 2 p.m. Oct. 28 at Borders Pearlridge (487-1818).

* SENIOR FAIR A senior fair with health screenings and information on active living is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 27 at Pearlridge Center Uptown. Call 488-0981.

* POUHALA CLEANUP Volunteers meet from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Oct. 27 (Make a Difference Day) at Pouhala Marsh on Waipahu Depot Road to plant trees, trim kiawe, clear stream debris and remove pickleweed and mangrove seedlings. Call the city at 768-3300 or Hawaii Nature Center, 955-0100, ext. 18.

* PUMPKINS Aloun Farms presents its annual Pumpkin Patch festivities from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 27-28. Proceeds from parking ($3) go to Campbell High’s ag program. Call 677-9516.

* FUN FEST Bethel Chapel holds a Fall Family Fun Fest from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at 94-371 C Ana Lane, across from August Ahrens Elementary School, featuring bouncing castles, games, music, food, candy and a kid-friendly maze. A costume contest on a Noah’s Ark theme is also planned for keiki and teens with prizes for those who come dressed as animals. Call 677-3992.

* PARENTING Author and family psychologist John Rosemond speaks on “Assuming the Power of Parenthood” at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at Hope Chapel Kapolei in Kalaeloa and on related topics at 4 and 7 p.m. Nov. 8 at Koolau Golf Course in Kaneohe.
