* STOP ELDER ABUSE Pearl City Library hosts a talk on “Stop Elder Abuse and Combat Identity Theft” at 3 p.m. Nov. 19. Barbie Faagau of the state Human Services Department shares signs of physical and financial abuse of senior citizens. At 4 p.m. HPD Detective Miles Jung discusses identity theft and how not to be a victim. Call 453-6566.

* HAWAIIAN HOMES The Hawaiian Homes Commission holds its monthly community meeting at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 19 in Nanakuli. For location and details, call 586-3840.

* WINTER BASEBALL Hawaii Winter Baseball League concluded its run on Waipahu’s Hans L’Orange Field with a title game at 6 p.m. Nov. 19.

* WAIPAHU MARKET The new Waipahu Marketplace holds its official grand opening from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 19 at 94-340 Waipahu Depot Road. U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie and other leaders will attend. Call 676-8858.

* GINGERBREAD HOUSE Families who would like to build gingerbread houses for Easter Seals Hawaii and Kamaaina Kids’ annual Gingerbread Family Festival at the Blaisdell Center on Dec. 9, need to make reservations for gingerbread house kits by Nov. 19. Call 948-4000 or 262-4538.

* BIOPROSPECTING State commissioners hold a public meeting on bioprospecting at 6 p.m. Nov. 20 at LCC to gather comments to help form policy and rules. Bioprospecting is collecting plant, animal and micro-organism materials for research and developing of commercial products. Call OHA trustee Walter Heen at 594-1854.

* SAFE DRIVING Kaiser’s Waipio Clinic hosts an AARP driver safety course from 8 a.m.to noon Nov. 20 and 27 at 94-1480 Moaniani St. Fee is $10. Call 432-2260.

* ROYAL MUSIC The Royal Hawaiian Band plays a free concert at noon Nov. 21 at Kapolei Hale with guest singers from Island Pacific Academy. Call 922-5331.

* PEARLRIDGE HOLIDAY Pearlridge Center welcomes Santa Claus at 9 a.m. Nov. 23 at Downtown Center Court. The Pearlridge Express gives rides to keiki daily from 10 a.m. through Jan.1 at Uptown Center Court.Call 488-0981.

* BREAK DANCING Funky 4 Corners hosts a heavyweight and flyweight break dancing tournament from 5 to 10 p.m. Nov. 24, with a live hip-hop performance by Los Feo Faces at 5:30 p.m. Call 351-8817.

* BORDERS WAIKELE Borders Waikele presents Betty Shimabukuro at noon Nov. 24 signing What Hawaii Likes to Eat;

* OKINAWA FAIRS The Hawaii Okinawa Center hosts the annual Winter Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 pm. Nov. 24 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m Nov. 24, with shuttle service from the Leeward Community College parking lot. More than 160 crafters, a silent auction, food and Santa are planned. Call 676-5400.

* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 24 at Resurrection of the Lord Church, 94-1260 Lumikula St., from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 25 at Foodland in Ewa Town Center, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 27 at Leeward Community College. Call 845-9966.

* HEALTH WORKSHOP City of Refuge Christian Church presents a health and wellness workshop,“Hearts on the Homefront,” in two parts starting at 9 a.m. Nov. 25 at 94-897 Waipahu St. The intention is to prepare the spouse and family for the return of a deployed servicemember. * WAIMALU HIKE The Hawaiian Trail and Mountain Club leads a 6-mile intermediate hike to Waimalu Ditch at 8 a.m. Nov. 25. Go to www.htmclub.org
