Below are highlights of what’s coming up in the West Oahu community.

* The Kapolei campus of the University of Phoenix holds an open house and information meeting from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at 1001 Kamokila Blvd. Room 309. Call Ivy Wong at 536-2686.

* A candidates forum for state Senate (District 19) and House (District 40) seats is planned for 6:30 p.m. Sept. 6 in the Kapolei High School cafeteria, sponsored by two Hawaiian associations. Call 373-3070.

* The University of Phoenix holds an open house from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at its local campus in the Kapolei Building, 1001 Kamokila Blvd. Room 309. RSVP to Ivy Wong at 536-2686, ext. 35148.


* Pearl City High School’s homecoming parade starts at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 8 with 500 marchers, six vehicles and the band traveling along Waimano Home Road from the school to Pacheco Park. Theme is “Remember the Chargers.” The team faces Kaimuki at 7 that night. Call 453-6130.

* Holomua Elementary School holds its annual Ohana Fair from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 8 on the Ewa Beach campus. Call 685-2000.

* The Hawaii Blood Bank holds area donor drives from 9 a.m to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 8 in the Kakuhihewa Building on Kamokila Boulevard; and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 13 at Leeward Community College. Call 845-9966.

* Pearl City Nursing Home invites the public to its bon dance from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 9 at 919 Lehua Ave. They also will release Our Family Favorites Cookbook, serve refreshments and sell crafts. Call 453-1919.

* The Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club leads an advanced 12-mile hike at 8 a.m. Sept. 10 on Manana ridge in Pacific Palisades. Call 674-1459.

* The Ewa Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. Sept. 14 in the Ewa Beach Library. Call 527-5749.


* The Nature Conservancy conducts a 3-mile hike on the Kaluaa Loop Trail in Honouliuli from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 17. Fee is $10. Call 587-6220. * The annual Marriott Links to Literacy golf tourney starts at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 15 on the Ko Olina Golf Course, with proceeds going to Friends of the Library of Hawaii (536-4174); Junior Achievement of Hawaii holds its annual Golf Classic Sept. 28 on the Kapolei Golf Course (545-1777).

* The Taste of Kapolei, a major annual fundraiser sponsored by the Kapolei Rotary Club, is set for 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 23 at Ko Olina Resort & Marina’s fourth lagoon. Admission is $70 for adults, $30 for children. For tickets, call 674-2500.

* The Campbell High School Class of 1966 plans its 40-year reunion for Oct. 2-6 in Las Vegas. Members of the 1965 class are also welcome. Call 671-0049.
