The Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii will have its 14th annual Walk in the Country Benefit beginning at 5 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Lanikuhonua Beachfront estate in Ko Olina.

This year’s theme, “Building Our Future,” refers to the nonprofit’s effort to help youths gain the resources they need to prosper as well-adjusted young men and women. Event planners are taking the theme literally by providing interactive “build your own” culinary stations. In addition, guests can enjoy fine wines and a martini bar. A raffle also will have a gourmet twist, with the lucky winners receiving a two-night stay at a Waikiki hotel along with a private dinner for six.

There’s no need to don a black tie for this local-style, “backyard casual” evening where shorts, slippahs and aloha attire are the way to go.

Tickets cost $300 each, and sponsorship tables are available. All proceeds go to BGCH programs that serve more than 5,000 youths each year.

To purchase tickets or for more information, visit bgch.com or call 949-4203.
