Twenty-five high school JROTC units from across the state - including four from West Oahu - will compete this weekend at the Waianae Adventure Challenge.

Events will be staged at Herbert Pililaau Army Recreation Center, Our Lady of Keaau and Albert Silva Ranch, where cadets from Aiea, Campbell and Waipahu high schools, along with their peers from the Youth Challenge Academy in Kalaeloa, will compete in swimming, outrigger canoe paddling, rope bridging, running, physical fitness, water crossing and tug-of-war Saturday, followed by an obstacle course, run and rappel challenge on Sunday.

The Waianae High unit hosts and coordinates the Challenge, which is designed to foster leadership, team-work, motivation, fitness and camaraderie.
