The city is collecting fresh flower lei at area parks and fire stations for Memorial Day ceremonies.

In West Oahu, the public can drop off their 20- to 24-inch, tied lei from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 28 at Waipahu and Waiau district parks and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kapolei Hale’s security desk.

All fire stations will accept the flowers between 6:30 a.m. and noon that day. Loose plumeria blossoms also are welcome at Waipahu District Park.

Boy Scouts will decorate graves of veterans at Punchbowl and at all state veterans cemeteries on the national holiday. The Mayor’s Memorial Day Ceremony is set for 8:30 a.m. May 31 at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl).

For more information, call the city Parks and Recreation Department at 768-3001.
