In celebration of Hawaii’s youths, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts has joined forces with Hawaii Arts Alliance and the state of Hawaii, Creative Industries Division, to present the Children’s Digital Image Rainbow Project.

The project invites keiki statewide to submit their best photo artwork for a collage at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa now being built at Ko Olina.

Students in grades all grades are encouraged to use their creativity and imagination to take snapshots that best represent the beauty of Hawaii and the magic of everyday life in their island home.

Photos should showcase a distinct, individual color of the rainbow and reflect scenes found in and around the child’s daily life. Subjects and inspiration can be drawn from nature, the surrounding environment or local culture, for example.

The company will select about 150 entries for the collage that, when viewed from a distance, will reveal the full spectrum of the rainbow.

The installation will be a permanent fixture at the resort, which is scheduled to open Phase I in fall 2011.

For details on the contest, go to http://www.hawaiiartsalliance.org/schoolphotocontest. All images must be submitted online by May 15.
