Nonprofit group Parents and Children Together (PACT) recently opened an office for its Economic Development Center (EDC) in Kapolei’s Campbell Square to help meet Hawaii’s economic needs.

EDC is designed to strengthen an individual’s ability to secure and keep employment or to start and maintain a small business.

All services begin with individual intake and assessment to determine the goals and preferences of each individual. Participants with a low to moderate income who lack workplace and business skills then can access services that include a personal vocational assessment, basic economic literacy, budget planning, resume development, job placement and follow-up, and small-business training and startup.

“Our programs are free and we work with our participants to help them become better people and contributing members to society,” said business program specialist Carol Nascimento. “We encourage and nurture them to reach their full potential.”

EDC receives funding through the state, city, federal and private sectors.

For more information, call the Kapolei office at 674-4233 or visit pacthawaii.org.
