Kanoelani Celebrates Healthy Keiki Saturday

Healthy Kids Day is coming this weekend to Kanoelani Elementary School, and Olympian Kevin Asano will be there to share some healthy judo techniques with the crowd.

The free fair runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the cafeteria and includes dozens of booths, exhibitors and healthy snacks for keiki,along with the school robotics club, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts (accepting small recyclables).


Asano, a silver medalist in the 1988 Olympics in judo, is a graduate of Pearl City High School and member of the Hawaii Sports Hall of Fame, among many other honors. He will give a demonstration at 10 a.m. Other demos include D.A.R.E. graduates at 9 a.m., Grace Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at 9:30,Kumu Lindsey and fourth-graders at 10:30, Eric Okamura and Nordic Walking Poles at 11,Kanoelani JPOs at 11:30 and personal chef Jessica Lindman at noon.

Food booths will offer bentos, chicken salads, chicken musubi, drinks and popcorn.


Exhibitors include author Tammy Paikai, What’s Up Gymnastics,Images by Steven, Hair Cuts, Malaleuca, Dri Wash & Natural Aloha Soap Products,LCC Healthy Snacks Fish Pond, massage therapy, child obesity, optometrists, tennis clubs, a preschool, American Red Cross, Hawaii National Guard and more.
