Ko Olina Charities hosts its 12th annual Ko Olina Thanksgiving Outreach meal service and donation drive this Saturday, when resort members will assemble and serve approximately 4,000 meals to homeless and needy West Oahu residents in the largest holiday outreach event on Oahu.

The day of giving starts at 8:30 a.m. at Leeward Community College, where turkey, gravy and trimmings will be packed and transported to Ko Olina Resort’s Lagoon #4 Marina Parking Lot. There, the food will be sorted and loaded onto UPS trucks for distribution to area churches, which will serve a sit-down Thanksgiving feast and/or deliver meals to those unable to travel.

Two organizations and 18 churches in Ewa Beach, Pearl City, Waipahu, Kapolei, Nanakuli, Waianae and Maili are volunteering their facilities and manpower. In addition, the U.S. VETS shelter in Kalaeloa will accept donations of used ties, suits, jackets, office attire and toiletries for its residents. Call Lorraine Gershun at 387-9284 to arrange for delivery prior to the Nov. 20 event, or call the main office at 682-9000.

Ko Olina Charities is a nonprofit organization created by Ko Olina Resort and Marina to serve West Oahu residents; it relies on monetary donations for its annual Thanksgiving Outreach.

Interested donors may send checks made payable to “Ko Olina Charities” to 92-1480 Aliinui Drive, Kapolei HI 96707.
