Hurricane season is upon us, and what better time to prepare for this natural disaster than now?

Kapolei Library is set to host a free Hurricane Preparedness information session at 11 a.m. this Saturday at the library, 1020 Manawai St.

Manny Mattos, a former Hawaii police officer and current volunteer with State Civil Defense, along with Gerard Fryer of the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center will provide vital information about hurricanes and other related severe-weather concerns in Hawaii and the Pacific.

Attendees also will learn how to create hurricane preparedness kits and ways to prepare themselves, their home and community for severe weather.
