Learn to recycle organic waste with the help of worms at a Worm Workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 20 at Halawa Xeriscape Garden.

The Board of Water Supply, Waikiki Worm Company and Friends of Halawa Xeriscape Garden have partnered to present this hands-on, educational activity.

Participants will construct their own Mini-Bin (starter colony for worms) and learn about vermicomposting. The workshop will demonstrate how worm harvesting can help fertilize plants while cutting down on household waste and conserving water.

Activity fee is $30 for the general public and $20 for Friends of Halawa Xeriscape Garden members. Additional guests are $10. The cost includes a Mini-Bin and an owner’s manual.

Just before the workshop (9:40 a.m.) is an optional 15-minute guided tour of the garden.
