Roadwork will close two northbound lanes on Waipahu Depot Street Dec. 13 through 17, and motorists are advised to avoid the street if possible.

Both northbound and southbound traffic lanes will temporarily be shifted to the other side of the street from Hikimoe Street to Farrington Highway. Police officers will direct traffic at both ends of the work area.

Commuters who normally use Waipahu Depot Street to get to Waipahu Transit Center are encouraged to take alternative routes such as Mokuola Street this week.

Additionally, bus patrons normally using the Waipahu Depot Street bus stop just before Hikimoe Street are asked to use the transit center bus stops. For more bus information, call 848-5555 or visit thebus.org.

The closures are because of construction of a concrete bus pad between Hikimoe Street and Farrington Highway, as well as the reconstruction of the sidewalk adjacent to Hawaii State Federal Credit Union (across from Shiro’s Drive Inn). It follows similar work that required the temporary closure of southbound lanes on Waipahu Depot Street last week.
