With all the holiday buzz, the folks at 55 Pawsh Place are making sure animals get some attention too.

Owner David Souza and wife Cheri invite families to bring in dog food and gently used pet items, including collars, leashes, toys, beds, clothing and more, for a collection drive Saturday to benefit K9 Kokua.

“During the holidays, I know a lot of people are donating to other organizations, but I want to remind them that there are different shelters and pets that need some love too,” said Cheri. “K9 Kokua works with the homeless pets along the Waianae coast. A lot of families in the area are in need as well. They tend to spend the little income they have on purchasing gifts for their children, but they’re always so happy when we can bring them toys for their pets.”

The Souzas are making sure it’s a win-win deal, with customers receiving 15 percent off “like items,” so you can bring in your used items and get a deal on something new for your own pet.

Also on the holiday schedule is a treat for customers who purchase a bag of cat or dog food five pounds or larger on Nov. 28, to be donated to the Oahu SPCA. Besides helping to feed the more than 150 pets living temporarily at the Kapolei shelter, the reward is a free holiday portrait session with local photographer Keith Uehara, and a 5-by-7 print.

For more information, visit 55 Pawsh Place at the Halekuai Shopping Center (563 Farrington Hwy., Suite 105) in Kapolei or call 674-2055.
