Going into a rainbow of colors at Disney’s Aulani Resort will be a collage of 138 digital photos from Hawaii children, including five images from West Oahu’s young photographers.

Earlier this year students were asked to submit images showing the beauty of Hawaii from their personal perspective using a single color in the rainbow spectrum.

The selected photos will be compiled into a vibrant collage and be prominently displayed at the Ko Olina resort when phase one opens next summer.

Receiving $100 gift cards for their artwork were area students Kathrine Ancheta of August Ahrens Elementary; Sarah Britt, Mina Elm and Jessica Meek of Hawaii Technology Academy; and Kate Uesugi of Island Pacific Academy.

The project is a partnership of the resort, Hawaii Arts Alliance and the state’s Creative Industries Division (film office).

“We applaud Disney and the Aulani team for their dedication to featuring local artists at their new resort and are thrilled to be involved in helping them showcase the talents of Hawaii’s students in this creative and lasting way,” said Georja Skinner, CID administrator.
