Island Pacific Academy sponsors its annual golf tournament Nov. 5 at Waikele Golf Club, giving players the chance to win prizes such as golf equipment, an electronics package, vacations, a 2010 Nissan Rogue or $1 million.

But the biggest winner of the day will be the college-prep school, because funds raised from the tournament will support construction of a new athletic and performing arts center on IPA’s Kapolei campus.

“The proceeds of this event will go toward the continued growth and expansion of the school’s facilities, providing our students with more ways to learn,” said headmaster Dan White.

Phase I of the building’s plans include a gymnasium and classrooms, with a theater, additional classrooms, office space and parking to follow.

“I can’t think of a better investment than our youths and young adults,” White added. Golfers must check in by 10 a.m. for the shotgun start at noon. Teams of four must play to a minimum combined handicap of 30.

Entry fee is $175 per person. E-mail Keri Vincent at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or call 674-3528 for more information.
