Chinese performers in colorful costumes will grace the Leeward Community College Theatre with music, song and dance at 6 p.m. Saturday as part of their 2010 Young Artists of China Tour.

Tickets are $25, $15 for children under 12, $21 for student, military and senior citizens. For more information, call 455-0380 or log onto lcctheatre.hawaii.edu.

Thirty-one of the performers, age 8 to 14, are with the China Central Television Galaxy Children’s Choir.

Their colleagues, age 16 to 20, will showcase traditional instruments and dances from the China Secondary Art School in association with the Art College of the University of Inner Mongolia. In all, 66 talented youths perform on the cultural arts tour.

The groups also have shows booked for BYU-Hawaii and Polynesian Cultural Center Feb. 17-19. After they visit Pearl Harbor and PCC, the tour moves on to perform with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in Utah. The cultural exchange is sponsored by the Utah-based nonprofit Celebrating Children and the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. Crews from China and the United States are filming documentaries on the two-week cultural exchange and performances.
