A makeshift garden of colorful orchids brightened Aiea Elementary School at Aiea Orchid Society’s annual orchid show and sale June 15 to 17. Orchid societies from throughout the island set up beautiful displays showcasing a variety of flowers — large, tiny, common, unusual, some with a tantalizing scent, some with elegant and simple sprigs and others lush with abundant flowers. The always friendly hosts greeted the visitors who packed the room looking for plants or for plant hooks, baskets, fertilizer and other garden items for sale. Shoppers enjoyed a final hour of great bargains. A show hosted by the Ewa Orchid Society happens July 13-15. Call 239- 6639.
