For the first time ever, Kapolei has taken the spotlight during the two-month, statewide Aloha Festivals celebrations. Sept. 15 brought Kapolei Regional Park to life with entertainment, arts and crafts, food vendors and all kinds of family fun at the festival’s Kapolei Mele, which will now be a permanent event at the annual festival. Five stages provided ongoing entertainment at the park, courtesy of the city, Hawaiian Airlines, Kapolei Property Development, Bank of Hawaii and Waste Management. The crowds were treated to music, storytelling and hula, with a special appearance by the U.S. Air Force Tops in Blue - a show of song and dance by 35 active-duty airmen who have performed around the world.
