Waipio Center hosted a Community Swap Meet right in the heart of the shopping center’s parking lot the morning of June 21. Thirty-three booths were stocked full of a variety of items, from plants to handmade crafts to books and clothes.

And this popular event - they’ve held 14 swap meets in six years - keeps shoppers coming back because 100 percent of all booth fees are donated directly to area schools and community nonprofits. Those profiting from the June 21 meet include Kanoelani Elementary School, Calvary Chapel Pearl Harbor, Goodwill Industries, Boy Scout Troop 76, W Performing Arts and Hawaii Swim Club.

Don’t despair if you missed last month’s event; Waipio Center holds three swap meets a year, with the next one coming up on Oct. 18.
