In honor of nurturing unthirsty plants as well as environmentally conscious keiki and parents for 20 years, Halawa Xeriscape Garden played host Aug. 2 to a fabulously green Open House. There was plenty of natural fun to be had with free guided garden tours, workshops and keiki activities and garden planting.

Attendees also got to purchase their very own potted plant and bag of mulch to keep their own gardens - and Halawa Xeriscape Garden’s educational programs and classes - growing. Speaking of gardens, everyone was ‘root’ing for the grand prize: An “Extreme Xeriscape Garden Makeover” valued at more than $20,000, courtesy of the Board of Water Supply, Steve’s Gardening Service Inc., Rain Bird and Friends of Halawa Xeriscape Garden.
