The Hawaii Okinawa Center held its Autumn Dance Matsuri Sept. 16. “It’s your last chance to dance until next June,” community relations coordinator and emcee Wayne Miyahira told the congregation. “So, don’t just sit around.” About 700 people attended the celebration, and the outdoor drizzle didn’t dampen any spirits. “The festival is huge and the reason is, it’s indoors,” said Miyahira. “It’s well lit, and the dancers like it because the ground is flat. The musicians like it because they are onstage and not in a small platform. And it’s the final danc of the season so the dancers are very good by the time they come here.” Three clubs provided refreshments — Young Okinawans of Hawaii, Hawaii Taiko Kai and Ryukyu Kobudo Taiko.
