Hope for a New Beginning Shelter’s Easter egg hunt and open house March 31 in Kalaeloa drew more than 400 visitors. Keiki enjoyed free pony rides, games, crafts and goodie bags, but that was only half of the fun. There was also a coloring contest, a doughnut-eating contest, shave ice, balloon creations, inflatable jumpers, stuffed animals and prizes galore. A grand prize drawing won two lucky participants free tickets to Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park. “The day was a huge success,” said event coordinator, Brian Kanno of Child and Family Service. CFS cosponsored the festivities with Waianae Community Outreach, which administers the new shelter. To donate to the program, call 682- HOPE.
