Leeward YMCA Open House

Eight-hundred visitors flocked to the Leeward YMCA’s Jan. 13 open house to check out the new facility — and perhaps make their New Year’s resolutions a reality. Guests were entered into a raffle and the winner received islandwide YMCA membership for a year. The flagship Y signed up 111 new members at the open house, and they each received a free gym bag and two T-shirts emblazoned with the YMCA logo. They also received an invitation to the Jan. 25 blessing for the facility’s new family fitness center. The free gifts are available to anyone who signs up by the Y’s Feb. 10 Community Day (runs 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.). The community event offers a chance for visitors to try out the center’s exercise programs, machines and heated pool. Call 671-6495.
