The Oahu Filipino Community Council held its fourth annual golf tournament June 7 at the Kapolei Golf Course. Proceeds benefit the group’s scholarship fund, which currently supports the college studies of three local high school graduates of Filipino ancestry. About 150 golfers took part in the tourney, chaired by Eddie Agas Sr., state Rep. Jun Abinsay and Albert Cabadingan. Penske Truck Leasing won the Governor’s Cup, Team Carino Andres won the Mayor’s Cup, and the team of Philippine Consul General Ariel Abadilla was recognized for having the most strokes (also called the “honest scorer” award). The council also sponsored the Miss Oahu Filipina Pageant, June 24 at Pearl City Cultural Center.
