Foodies cleared their to-do plates and flocked to the Filipino Community Center in Waipahu Aug. 14 for an evening of sweet surprises as Claude Tayag, named one of the Philippines’ top 10 chefs, showcased his three award-winning signature sauces and dips. “They were very good, and they were served on foods such as sushi rice rolls, pork rinds and chicken,” said MidWeek’s very own Linda Dela Cruz. “For me, the sauces were different, and I always like trying something different.”

Guests were in for more treats as Tayag brought along a few of his original watercolors and prints and signed copies of his new culinary book, Food Tour. Keeping spirits high was entertainment from Angeli Callo & Friends.
