University of Hawaii forward Ambree Ako entered her senior soccer season already entrenched in the school’s record books in goals (fourth all-time), game-winning goals (fifth) and game-winning assists (first).

The 2007 WAC Offensive Player of the Year, Ako was at her best recently when she produced a pair of goals in Hawaii’s 3-2 loss to Pacific at the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Soccer Classic. Ako, who starred at Aiea High during her prep soccer days, took some time away from her schedule last week to sit down with MidWeek.

What is your least-favorite household chore? Washing dishes - it’s too much of a hassle. If you don’t have a dishwasher,I think you should buy one.

Are you a neat freak or messy? It depends. My room is super messy, but I also have a little bit of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), too. Things that are stacked need to be perfectly stacked.

Are you the life of the party or the girl who stands by and listens? It depends on my mood. I can be hyper and want to talk to everyone. Sometimes,I like to sit around and hear other people’s stories.

Who’s your most competitive teammate in practice? I’d have to say Britta (Bourne) or Mari (Punzal). The three of us challenge each other in practice. It makes us better, and it makes practice more fun.

Who on the UH team will surprise people in 2009? I’d say Rachel Domingo, but she just got hurt. She worked super hard in the summer, and her game was on. It’s unfortunate that she got hurt. I’d also say Shauna Musser.

What’s your favorite place to play when on the road? I’d say Boise, Idaho. Their field is the best next to ours, of course, and the weather isn’t too hot or too cold.

When you’re back in Aiea and you’re hungry, where do you go to eat? Jack in the Box. I order a junior bacon cheeseburger and curly fries and buttermilk.

Besides playing soccer and taking classes, what do you do with your free time? I like to watch TV (Grey’s Anatomy is my No. 1), and play Wii - I like Guitar Hero and Tennis. I also like to hang out with friends. I spent a lot of time with Mari (Punzal) off of the field. We have a couple of classes together.

Who’s had the biggest impact on you in your life? My mom (Shail). She went through a lot of rough times raising three of us by herself. She inspires me to be a better person.
