West Oahu skateboarders sped, flipped and otherwise propelled themselves to place in the T&C Skate/Ezekiel Halloween Havoc Amateur Skateboard Contest Oct. 29 at Manana Skate Park in Pearl City.

West Oahu winners included Joshua Koch of Pearl City who took fifth place in the 13-and-under division. In the 14-to-17 division, brothers Bronson and Dustin Ambrocio of Waipahu placed third and fifth, respectively. The 18-and-over division featured Pearl City’s Chris Quihano in second place, Emerick Ishikawa, also of Pearl City, in third, and Kyle Meyer of Ewa Beach in fourth place.

In addition to the traditional points system, contestants were awarded for the first time this year for pulling off the best trick in their respective divisions. The top five of 20 riders in each of three age divisions and a sponsored division, moved on to the finals. Finalists were given five minutes each to show off their best tricks. Trophies were awarded to the top three winners in each division, and prize packs went to the top five in each division.

The 12th annual event featured a product toss, raffle and pro skate demo.
