It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s time for the 21st annual Kaneohe Bay Air Show and Bay Fest Saturday and Sunday when the U.S. Navy’s world-famous Blue Angels will bring their thrilling aerial show to the skies above Kaneohe Bay.

Presented by Marine Corps Base Hawaii, the Blue Angels will roar over the base, marking two decades of performances with the F/A-18 Hornet in its four-plane Diamond Formation. The solo maneuvers and precision flying of the renowned six-jet Delta Formation are all free to the public, with gates opening at 9 a.m. each day.

Also planned: aerobatic shows by Tim Weber (Gelco Extra 300S), Greg Poe (Hagen Inc. ethanol-powered plane), Jacquie B. Air shows (“Red Eagle” Pitts Biplane) and Kailua resident Clint Churchill (Extra 300L), among others. Renowned aircraft such as the F-22, USCG C-130, SH-60, H-65 and C-17 also will demonstrate their skills.

On the ground are Extreme Fun carnival rides, mini-golf, Paradise RC Flyers and Taste of Oahu food booths. Kings of Spade, Mike Conrado, Willie K and Natural Vibrations entertain Saturday night, topped off by a spectacular fireworks display at 10 p.m. A car show also is set for Sunday.

There is on-base parking, and the Premium “Show Center” grandstand, chalet and box seats tickets are available through kaneohebayairshow.com. For details, call 254-7563 or 477-5143.
