Four Windward venues plan public activities and/or fireworks to celebrate America’s Independence Day.

* Pending full funding from donors, Kailua will stage its annual fireworks show at 8 p.m. Sunday following an aerial acrobatics show at 6 p.m. off of Kailua Beach Park. (To contribute to the fund, send checks to Save Kailua Fireworks, 600 Kailua Road #119, Kailua HI 96734; pay online by credit card at kailuafireworks.com, drop money in a merchant donation box, or call 728-0115.)


 

* Turtle Bay Resort opens its gates at 5:30 p.m. Sunday near the stables offering food and activities on the West Lawn and entertainment by Ka’ala Boys and De Lima Ohana from 6 to 8 p.m.. Fireworks are set for 8. Parking and admission are free. For more information, call 293-6000.

* Hawaii Epilepsy Foundation sponsors its annual Freedom Run for Epilepsy at 7 a.m. Sunday at Kailua High School with 5K and 10K timed races. Registration begins at 6; free drinks and food from ING Direct. For details, call 528-3058.


* Kailua Chamber of Commerce sponsors the 64th annual Independence Day parade July 5, starting at 10 a.m. from Kainalu Drive and Palapu Street, moving down to finish at Kailua Intermediate School. A mandatory meeting for marchers is at 6 tonight (June 30) at Kailua Intermediate. For details, call 261-7997.
