Lani-Kailua Outdoor Circle presents the 16th annual “I Love Kailua” town party on Kailua Road from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 27.

The organization is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, and promises the town party to be bigger and better than ever.

“Our 16th annual event will feature a new hula stage with award-winning hula performers by Kailua hula halau including Mapuana de Silva and Chinky Mahoe,” said Amy Hammond, town party coordinator.

A popular feature of previous town parties, “A Taste of Kailua,“will showcase Kailua restaurants, and Kailua fans also can enjoy art in the park, crafts by more than 50 Windward artisans, a plant sale, keiki rides and activities, community information booths and free health screenings.

Commemorative buttons are available at 30 area businesses for a $3 donation for adults; children under age 12 are admitted free. When the button is shown to select Kailua vendors, participants receive discounts on purchases. Proceeds from button sales go to funding the event and beautification around Kailua and Lanikai.

“This is an annual event that brings Kailua together,” said Hammond. “We want to encourage people to come out.”

For more information on the event, call Hammond at 234-0404.
