A wave of fun, prizes and entertainment will hit Windward Mall from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday as T&C Surf celebrates its grand reopening in a new mall location while supporting the Surfrider Foundation at the same time.

With a Vegas-style contest, T&C and Star 101.9 will team up to offer a chance to win a worldwide surf tour for four valued at $25,000. Everyone can try their luck at the slot machine to win the tour as well as dozens of other prizes from go! Airlines, Star 101.9 and T&C Surf.

The newly renovated and expanded T&C Surf location is on the mall’s upper level of the theater wing next to Native Hawaiian Gear. The store carries the latest trends in boardsports products, including its own branded line.

“T&C Surf has been open since September of 1991, so you can imagine we were ready to move into a new space,” said general manager Glenn Hirata.“Not only has T&C grown tremendously since that time, but also the popularity of the boardsports lifestyle market as a whole.

“Our new store is nearly twice the size of our old store, so it does a great job of helping us serve our customer base.”

A Hawaiian blessing by Kahu Kelekona Bishaw at 9:30 a.m. will kick off the day’s festivities. T&C Surf’s doors will open at 10 a.m. with free T-shirts for the first 100 people through the door (no purchase necessary). With a purchase of $30 or more, customers will receive a free T&C T-shirt of their choice (while supplies last).

Continuing throughout the celebration customers can enter the Surfrider Foundation Raffle to win skateboards, a Morey skim-board, a Manta bodyboard and other prizes. All proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Surfrider Foundation.

And bring the keiki along, because from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Balloon Monsoon will be on the scene to create colorful balloon animals.

Slot Machine Madness will happen from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. when Star 101.9 DJ Maleko will give shoppers a chance to win the above-mentioned prizes, including instant T&C shopping sprees and restaurant gift certificates.

The music will start at 1 p.m. when Inoa’ole takes the Center Court stage to rock the mall with more prizes and surprises.

The store upgrade is part of a mallwide improvement project.

“Windward Mall also has undergone tremendous change with its yearlong renovation project and addition of new stores and restaurants,” said Hirata.“Having our new location in the theater wing is a great advantage, and we’re thrilled to be part of the changes.”

In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Windward Mall is planning a grand reopening Aug. 10-12 with a weeklong schedule of events.
