Aloha, Kailua neighbor,

After the March tsunami, the Kailua Neighborhood Board (KNB) heard from several concerned citizens asking why there is only a “limited” disaster plan in place. They also asked for ways that disaster information and updates could be better communicated to residents, visitors and businesses.

To address these concerns, the KNB tasked community leaders to work on developing a more detailed disaster plan for Kailua. During the next few months, committees will be working on the various aspects of the revised plan to include but not be limited to: communication, shelters, identifying key trained residents to help during the disaster, and disaster training seminars for residents and businesses.

It is our goal to reach everyone in Kailua. You or your group have been identified as a key resource in our community to help the KNB develop contact lists for future disaster training seminars.

Please respond to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) by Friday, July 8, and provide us with the contact person, phone number and email for your organization.

With your help and support, Kailua will be ready when the next disaster strikes. If you have any questions or concerns, you may contact us via email or phone.
