Public comment is due today (Sept. 21) on the supplemental EIS for Turtle Bay Resort, which has submitted the court-required Revised Master Plan, also known as the Proposed Action/Reduced Density (Preferred) Alternative.

The resort hopes to gain community approval for expanded development by cutting its planned lodgings from five new hotels with 2,500 rooms down to two hotels with 625 rooms. Resort-residential units would be reduced from 910 to 590; affordable housing units would go up from 90 to 160. Other natural amenities are included, such as public shoreline access.

Comments should be sent to Turtle Bay Resort, 57-091 Kamehameha Hwy., Kahuku, HI 96731. For more information, call Drew Stotesbury of the city Department of Planning and Permitting at 447-6951.
