Gon Speaks To ‘Ahahui

Special guest speaker Samuel M. ‘Ohukani’ohi’a Gon III will address a meeting of ‘Ahahui Malama i ka Lokahi (Hawaiians for the preservation of native ecosystems) at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Faith Baptist Church in Kailua.

Gon is the senior scientist and cultural adviser to The Nature Conservancy of Hawaii, and he also sits on the steering committee for ‘Ahahui. His lecture will focus on the relationship of Hawaiians to the ‘aina.


The meeting also will share the programs and projects of ‘Ahahui, which has been working long and hard to restore Kawainui Marsh, its cultural history and native habitat under the guidance of Chuck Burrows and others.

The public is welcome to attend the general meeting.
