Grants Send Scholars Off To College Studies

Windward United Church of Christ marked the 41st year of Holmes Sunday May 15 by awarding scholarships in memory of its former pastor, Jerome Holmes, and his wife Eva, to six area high school seniors.

The students were honored at a reception following worship.


They are Justin Vele of Farrington High, who will study journalism and communications at UH Manoa; Teone Farley-Mahoe of Kalaheo High, who will study kinesiology at Biola University; Shelby Tahara of Kailua High, who will study film and video production at UH Manoa; Leilani Galindo of Kailua High, who will pursue liberal arts at Windward Community College; Jordy Smith of Kalaheo High, who will study secondary education at UH Manoa; and Cheyenne Kadooka of Kailua High, who will study business at UH Manoa.
