For those who are disabled, Hawaii Fi-Do service dogs are there to provide companionship and to help with basic tasks. On March 26 the public is invited to return the favor at “Dining With the Dogs,” a gala evening in Waikiki to benefit the Kahuku-based nonprofit group.

As guests enjoy the buffet, no-host cocktails and a silent auction, they’ll be able to meet with the dogs and their volunteer teams. The nationally accredited service dogs are trained as puppies by at-risk youths - another unique program of the group - instilling in them a sense of responsibility and pride.

Presented by the Honolulu Emblem Club, the dinner kicks off at 6 p.m. at Honolulu Elks Lodge at 2933 Kalakaua Ave. Tickets cost $50 each.
