The city Department of Planning and Permitting will conduct a hearing on the Laie Inn redevelopment at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 15 at Kahuku Library.

The Hawaii Reserves plan for a new, 222-room resort complex on the site still requires a special management area use permit.

Designed by Group 70, the new structure will have a Polynesian theme to match the Polynesian Cultural Center next door, and also will feature a restaurant, banquet/meeting facilities, swimming pool, retail area and landscaping.

The original inn was demolished one year ago. According to Hawaii Reserves, which owns the land, the new facility will be “an affordable, convenient place to stay” for visitors and families of BYU-Hawaii students. The parcel is zoned for Resort/B-2 (community business district).

For more information or to make comments, call planner Kiyomi Oyama at 768-8034 and refer to File No. 2010/SMA-54.
