Kailua Historical Society will explore Kailua’s urban development in a forum and panel discussion set for 7 p.m. Thursday at Le Jardin Academy’s Wong Auditorium.

Titled “Kailua’s Changing Landscape: Targeting our Future,” the agenda’s panel includes architect Paul Sheffield, neighborhood board member Donna Wong and resident Jiro Tanabe, who has witnessed most of Kailua’s long journey of change. “The panel is sensitive and knowledgeable to the issues about Kailua’s history, the marsh and urbanization,” explained KHS president Paul Brennan, an archeologist and one of the authors of the recent and popular volume Kailua. “The public will benefit and be more informed. It’s a kind of debate about who ‘owns’ Kailua, since we’ve all made investments in where we live.”

Brennan will moderate the panel.
