Editor,

The Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii’s Windward Clubhouse has received sizable donations from three local restaurants in support of its fourth annual fundraiser at Formaggio Grill in Kailua. Boots & Kimo’s Homestyle Kitchen gifted $5,000, Mexico Lindo gave $2,500, and Teddy’s Bigger Burgers donated $1,000 for the March 6 event.

The donations brought the total raised at the benefit to $22,000, more than double that of last year’s event. The money will be used to fund ongoing programming at its clubhouse, which serves an average of 50 area kids daily.

We are so appreciative of these local businesses stepping in to support our efforts. The fact that all three would contribute to an event being held at a competitor’s restaurant speaks to their strong commitment to helping our kids. Their generous gifts could not come at a better time and will directly benefit our services. All four businesses are located near the clubhouse.
