Little Sprouts Sprouting In Kailua

Little Sprouts, an organic keiki clothing store, plans a grand opening from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 15 in Kailua, complete with smoothies from Lanikai Juice (from 4 to 6 p.m.)

“My interest is relatively new in organic keiki clothes because I’ve been looking for something for my son, who is 11 months old,” noted owner Melanie Decker Koehl. “There’s more than just off-white clothing available; there’re more designs, and it doesn’t have to be plain. It can be just as fun as other children’s clothes.”

Burp cloths, hooded towels, diaper cream, diaper bags, nursing covers, shoes, bubblebath, backpacks, lunch bags and toys are just some of the merchandise that go with its clothing brands - Speesees, Sckoon, Under the Nile, Kee-ka and more.

Decker Koehl, a Kailua-based graphic artist by trade, also operates Melanie Decker Designs. Her mother, Margaret Carey, works as Little Sprouts retail manager. Decker Koehl said she appreciates the help of all her family and friends, especially her husband, Charles.

Little Sprouts is located at 629A Kailua Road between Brent’s Deli and the Long’s Drugs parking lot. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 266-8877.
