Singer-songwriter Matt Costa performs a solo concert at 8 p.m. Dec. 7 in the Turtle Bay Resort’s new nightclub, Surfer the Bar.

The Huntington Beach-based songwriter has two albums released on Jack Johnson’s Brush Fire Records and was invited to open for Johnson on his 2005 summer tour. Costa was “discovered” in 2003 when his demo was heard by No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont, who agreed to produce Costa’s next recordings.

The indie rocker and folk singer contributed to Johnson’s Curious George soundtrack with his composition, Lullaby. His song, If You Took to Me was used in the polar bear documentary Arctic Tale. His music also has been in the films I Love You, Man, Youth in Revolt and Marmaduke. Apple used an instrumental cut from a Costa song for its iPhone 3GS ads.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and advanced tickets cost $25 general or $50 VIP. The show is for 21 and over only. For more information, call 293-6000.
