Cool cats, aristocats and closet cat people are invited to East Honolulu Clothing Co. from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday in Waimanalo Town Center.
The shop’s MEOW promotion will give 20 percent of its sales proceeds that day to three Oahu no-kill animal shelters.
Expect kittens, door prizes, cool contests, silly activities, “meowlicious” refreshments, facts, free advice, cat-themed merchandise, art and more. Visitors are welcome to add their pet photos and rescue stories to a collage of “My Favorite Breed Is Rescued.”
“In Waimanalo there are a lot of feral cats, and local shelters have been picking up and fixing as many as they can,” said Andrea WeymouthFujie, the shop’s co-owner. “These volunteers are truly unsung heroes - what I call ‘professional cat ladies.’ They help us trap, take the cats to be spayed/neutered and microchipped, and really help the community by working to reduce the feral cat population. So we just want to help them offset costs they incur throughout the year.”
The shop also debuts its “Save a Kitty” limited-edition T-shirt for $14.95, featuring Lucy, her latest rescue kitty.
“The highlight is definitely going to be the T-shirt,” she said. For details, call 259-7677.
