Windward Neighborhood Security Watch will join with other state and national volunteer watch groups for the National Night Out campaign against crime.

The 28th annual event is set for 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 2) at the Salt Lake Target store parking lot (top level). The Windward group encourages all residents to attend this awareness program that supports anti-crime partnerships.

“Our members will join with others from across the island to show a united front against crime,” said WNSW president Carlene MacPherson. “We’re all working toward the same goal: making Oahu a safe place to live, work and play.”

Besides the rally in Salt Lake, MacPherson said residents also can show their support by turning on their front porch light at 6 p.m. Aug 2 to “shine a light on crime.”

For details, call the District 4 Community Policing Team at 262- 6555.

The Windward group marched behind HPD in the Kailua parade July 4, and also plans to participate in the Waimanalo Country Fair July this weekend and the Olomana 50th anniversary street fest Saturday.
