An adult cast will bring My Name Is Rumpelstiltskin to Windward families this month with six family shows at Paliku Theatre on the Windward Community College campus.

Directed by Ron Bright, the children’s theater production features a nasty-tempered wizard called Rumpelstiltskin (Levi Oliveira), an ancient witch (Leah Koeppel), the miller’s daughter Laura (Nai’a Aguirre), a prince (Jaime Rodriguez) and a very bankable collection of gold that’s spun from straw.

The wizard concocts various schemes to acquire a child of royal birth. He compels Laura to spin the gold, which she does quite well. When she marries a prince, Rumpelstiltskin gives her 24 hours to guess the wizard’s name or lose her first-born child.

The curtain goes up at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12 and 19, and 2 p.m. Feb. 13 and 20. Tickets cost $12 for adults and $9 for children ages 4-10. For reservations and details, call 235-7310 or go to eTicketHawaii.com.

School performances are on weekday mornings, Feb. 7-11. To make arrangements to see these shows, teachers are invited to e-mail .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
