Retailers at Waimalu Plaza in Aiea joined together for the second annual Party at the Plaza Oct. 23.

The benefit was organized by Shiroma’s Wine and More and Paradise Optical, featuring live entertainment, a silent auction, wine tasting and keiki activities.

It raised funds for the Hawaii chapter of Talk About Curing Autism (TACA), a national nonprofit that strives to provide information, resources, education and support for individuals and families affected by autism.

Organizers of the fundraiser were Julianne King, Debbie Zimmerman, Lee Choy, Jill Shiroma, Bill Craig, Glenn Uyeda, Kiele Pennington and Kili Pennington.

Autism is a neurological and biological disorder that affects one in 91 children in the United States.

About 500 people participated in this year’s Party at the Plaza, and approximately $8,000 was raised for TACA. The funds will support parent outreach, education and general assistance.
