Windward Shopping Is Literally In The Bag

The “I LoveWindward” tote bags have arrived at local stores and are selling for $9.99 at a growing number of venues.

The “I Love Windward - Shop Where You LOVE” campaign was hatched by Kailua Chamber of Commerce and the Kaneohe Business Group to encourage shopping at small businesses in the two communities. Member shops that stock the 100-percent cotton shopping bags are asked to insert a promotional offer of at least $5 in each one they sell.

“For every $100 we spend at a locally owned business, $45 goes back into the community,“said Daniela Stolfi of the KCC. “Spend that same $100 at a retailer who is not local, and just $13 goes back into our community.”

On board so far are Little People Hawaii at Windward Mall, Cinnamon’s Restaurant in Kailua, Kailua Information Center, Lanikai Bath and Body, and Lanikai Home + Style. Interested businesses may visit ilovewindward.com to learn how to join the promotion.
