The Positive Coaching Alliance conducts the first of two workshops for coaches at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at KEY Project.

Sponsored by Community Works in 96744, the workshop is titled “Coaching for Winning and Life Lessons.” (A program for parents was held last year in Kaneohe.) Experts in the program show coaches how to improve athlete performance while developing character, and participants will receive PCA certification upon completion of the workshop.

For more information and to RSVP (for a refreshment count), call John at 239-5777, or Cynthia at 235-7747.

According to the PCA website, the live group workshops “provide the basis for a positive, character-building youth sports culture ... and facilitate interactive discussions that help you shape the environment you want for your youth athletes.

“Youth athletes coached in a mastery environment have increased self-confidence and a lowered anxiety level. In addition, they achieve more and actually do better on the scoreboard.”
