Habilitat, the Kaneohebased adult drug rehab center, launches its 2011 Christmas tree sale Saturday in retail lots at Stadium Mall and at 805 Ala Moana Blvd.

The tree campaign complements the center’s annual luau in Kaneohe, both of them major fundraisers for operating funds and residents’ tuition. Habilitat provides in-house substance abuse treatment to more than 110 adults, who all take part in the events.

“By purchasing trees and decorations through Habilitat,” the group states, “people will be helping to keep its doors open to the sons and daughters of Hawaii who struggle with substance abuse.”

Wholesale partnerships with community groups like schools, scouts and sports leagues have helped raise more than $100,000 over the tree campaign’s 37 years. The group sells noble, grand and Douglas firs (2 to 12 feet), and also has door charms and wreaths. Next year it plans to add woodcrafts for its community partners to sell.
