Five run-down low-income housing units at Ho’okipa got a make-over from 60 bank employees Aug. 25 - not something you see every day. Bank of Hawaii volunteers joined an ongoing effort by Doug Goodman’s Ohana Hou team to rehabilitate the long-vacant apartments next to Kahekili Highway so homeless families can move in. Bankoh CEO Al Landon, who attended along with Hawaii’s two U.S. senators, the city parks director, HCAP executive director and lieutenant governor, said his bank is “pleased to be contributing to housing solutions for the families in the Windward community through our Bankohale initiative.” They also gave a $5,000 check to Honolulu Community Action Program to support the Ohana Hou effort.
